McAfee vs. Cole at NXT Takeover XXX – It’s About Damn Time

A couple weeks back, Pat McAfee had Adam Cole on his radio show. Being a big McAfee fan, I was watching his socials and had no idea who Adam Cole was apart from this incredible commercial my buddies shot in high school of a very different Adam Cole. In the middle of the interview, Cole, former NXT champion, hit a roid rage and flew off the handle at McAfee and his guys, breaking equipment and putting his hands on McAfee’s producer, Ty Schmidt.

McAfee and everyone at Pat McAfee Inc took to Twitter and soon the Twitter army fell in line, blasting Cole for his antics. Cole’s fans came to his defense, too, claiming that McAfee was taking jabs at him throughout the whole interview.

Seriously though, you’re a damn fool if you didn’t think this was a work from the start. McAfee has been angling to get into the ring since his childhood and this was just the opportunity.

McAfee and Cole seemingly made up about a week later, and then shit “hit the fan.” I say that with quotes because this was a farce from the beginning, but you LOVE to see it. Later that same day, video of Cole throwing water in McAfee’s face came out, and McAfee took the boomstick to Cole’s head.

Triple H appeared on “Get Up” with Mike Greenberg and issued a challenge to McAfee. He talked down to McAfee, saying that “he wants to be famous…and I can make him famous,” when in reality McAfee’s star power will be a much needed ratings boost to wrestling. When my Greek grandfather died years ago, so did 15 percent of the “sport’s” viewership.

McAfee vs.Cole is happening on two weeks notice, at NXT Takeover XXX on August 22. Coming straight from his honeymoon to the wrestling ring is a bold move, but if there was ever an entertainer who could do it, it’s McAfee. He is taking on the longest reigning champion in NXT history for his first pro wrestling match. Man, would it be sweet if they scripted him for a win.

The Challenge stans McAfee in just about everything he does. Maybe it’s time we print some #McAfeeMafia shirts.

Note from the Chief: The Chief is heavily backing Undisputed Era. Pat McAfee is cool and all, but this is Adam Cole Bay Bay.
